The Vaayadi Speak

The LoC | April 3, 2010

Am still fighting the grumpiness of staying locked up during holidays. So here goes a grumpy post.

From the very beginning. From the minute a child learns to sketch its childish dreams, it is restricted by the boundaries of the coloring book. “Don’t paint outside the lines” says the strict bespectacled teacher. Freedom is no more a right. It is from there that the society starts to confine the imagination of an individual. Then to the schooling level where someone is always telling you that practice is more important that learning. That enlightment/character is worth only 5 marks allotted to Moral Science. That when you underline your answers with a pencil, you know better Chemistry. No looking back. There is no other option but to do engineering or medicine. Having learnt by rote all along, the engineering journey continues to be a mockery of the term- education. The minute you step out of your college, you know that you haven’t gained a speck of knowledge. You were a mama’s kiddo and a spoilt brat. The 20 years of education and confinement have killed the little imagination you had. You realise that you don’t have the aptitude or the inquisitiveness to learn software algorithms. In a way, it kills your self esteem. But then, it makes the journey worthwhile. Whilst everyone else is busy doing the rote work day after day, you still have a puzzle ahead. You’re still riding in a roller coaster watching your colleagues run around by foot. There lies the fun. In the uncertainity.

Experience Uncertainity. Love your life. Live your today.

  1. Cool! Very true! From School to College to work I can literally feel my levels of imagination, creativity dip down and down and down!
But,despite all that something keeps us going. We go in search of creativity, try our best to do something unlike the usual and still live in hope that one day we will be able to rediscover our creative souls again! Kudos to your post:)
